"Do as little or as much as you want" is the phrase offered to guests by The H Resort in the Seychelles. When arriving at a hotel I often cannot wait to peruse the activities sheet and the gym class timetable before I have even stepped into my room. Being caught up in the pace of my inner city life can make it difficult to wind down and just press pause. For the week we spent at The H Resort my husband and I managed to find a nice balance between finding time to relax and participating in some of the resort's activities.
The H Resort is a boutique hotel located on the northwest coast of the island of Mahé, only 30 minutes drive from the international airport. There are 100 rooms in the resort featuring both beach villas with private swimming pools and luxury suites.
With seven local and international restaurants to choose from we had a new exciting option for every night of our stay if we so wanted. The delicious buffet breakfasts were served in Vasco's named after the Portuguese explorer, Vasco da Gama, who discovered the Seychelles islands on his voyage to India.
One morning we ordered the 'floating breakfast' with champagne, a concept I'd heard of but never experienced before. An unforgettable and very luxurious experience as you can see.
The hotel is situated along the coast with easy access to the beach. The turquoise water is clear, warm and inviting. On one beautiful day I signed up for snorkelling, a group of us went out and managed to see lots of tropical fish and two extraordinary sea turtles which was very special indeed.
The room we had felt homely, modern and spacious. Its highlight was the larger than life freestanding bath tub. The balcony was a fantastic sun trap with views overlooking the hotels gardens. One evening it was lovely to sit there with a pre-dinner drink and watch a group on their company trip play pétanque.
My three favourite things at the H resort had to be; the gorgeous swimming pool surrounded by mountains, palm trees and cabanas; the entertainment and delicious food served at the hotels tepanyaki restaurant Seyshima and the stunning grand entrance with its huge chandelier made of shells that chimed in the breeze.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the H resort and particularly appreciated the friendly staff, proximity to local restaurants and very green surroundings. A wonderful place to do precisely as little or as much as you want.
